2023 Germany and Czech Republic: Day 4

Today, our day started with travel from Berlin to Dresden. The scenery on the route was beautiful and we were immediately struck by the difference between the fast city life and the calmer rural life. One thing that definitely surprised us was having to pay to use the bathroom at a rest stop!

Once we arrived in Dresden we visited three amazing exhibits. The first, Porzellansammlung, was a showcase of porcelain from around the world. The intricate designs made us think about how each individual piece was unique but can represent a bigger picture of the time period. Next, we visited the Mathematisch-Physikalischer Salon, which featured different math and science equipment. One piece that stood out was a brass ruler. While it was created many years ago, it looks almost exactly like the rulers we see and use today, which made us reflect on how aspects of life can evolve over time, but also stay the same. We then visited the Alte Meister Portrait Gallery where we saw hundreds of paintings. The art had incredible detail and the layout was particularly interesting, as paintings from each country were hung in different color rooms. The architecture in Dresden was very unique and had both original and modern aspects.

Last, we visited the Frauenkirche Church. It was absolutely breathtaking inside and out. The inside had intricate patterns and designs, as well as a large gold and pink display. We then traveled to Prague, and were very surprised at how easy it was to cross the border; all we had to do was drive through a tunnel! Prague is beautiful as well, and the architecture and color scheme are so interesting. We are looking forward to exploring and continuing learning in Prague!

Sbohem (bye!)
