2025 Costa Rica: Day 4
Greetings from Uvita!
The time to say goodbye to La Fortuna and Volcano Arenal has come. After spending time reflecting with our Global Works guides about our day of service, students set off for zip-lining and the bus ride to Uvita.
Here are a few words from our adventurous students about today's experiences.
From the perspective of Maggie F.:
"Bye, La Fortuna! It was time to travel to Uvita, but first, we participated in some thrilling zip lines! As my group ascended into the sky, nervous excitement lingered in the air. I approached the practice zip line, making sure to practice the proper technique. I crossed my ankles, grasped the handlebars, and laid back in a sloth-like position. Toward the end of the line, they instructed us to open our legs and shake the handlebar in order to steadily reach the landing platform. The zip lines were the most exhilarating thing ever! I moved at lightning speed across long zip lines as harsh wind blew across my face. My favorite part of the zip lines was not only the immense fun but also witnessing the most scenic view I’ve ever seen. We are now heading towards Uvita!"
Chris L. writes about the day:
"This morning, we left the pool and hot springs behind at La Fortuna. In the early morning, we reflected on our service trip and had a few group activities, which were very fun! After departing from our hotel, we had a 20-minute drive to go zip-lining. The zip-lining was one of my favorite experiences of the entire trip. From the blazing speeds to memorable moments with friends. Zipping through the trees was truly a moment to remember. Spending time with friends and looking at the view of Volcano Arenal made lunch a positive experience. The bus ride to Uvita was very peaceful with almost everyone either viewing the scenery or falling asleep."
Tomorrow, students will have the opportunity to take surf lessons at Play Chaman and then embark on a waterfall hike while participating in tree-planting along the way. The students are eager to see the beautiful shoreline and make lasting memories on the Costa Rican coast.
Here are some photos to enjoy from the day.
Pura Vida!
Best,
