2024 Costa Rica: Day 3


Hola Bullis community!

Day #3 was spent on the peaceful and picturesque landscape of Hacienda Orosi. Students had the opportunity to hike through the farm, see the animals, and spend time relaxing in the hot springs.

Everyone had a great day, and here are two reflections about their experiences: 

A few words from Olivia C. '28:

After starting day 3 with an amazing breakfast, we headed to Hacienda Orosi. At Hacienda Orosi, we went on a hike where we could see the beauty of Costa Rica! Then, everyone had the opportunity to get in the hot springs. At the hot springs, they had thermal mud we could put on our bodies and wash off once dry. Multiple students enjoyed this activity. Next, we had lunch, where we had the option of having fish or rice and chicken with a dessert. Following lunch, we went back into the hot springs, where everyone could chill and talk with their friends. The hot springs had an amazing view overlooking some of Costa Rica's gorgeous mountains. Heading back to our hotel we packed our suitcases to prepare for switching hotels tomorrow. For the rest of the night, we ate and then had free time to be with friends or hang out in our rooms. Overall, today was an amazing day filled with excitement and adventure.

The day from Eli W. '28 perspective:

To begin the morning, the group started off with a phenomenal breakfast catered by the hotel. After breakfast, we headed to Hacienda Orosi to hike and cool off in the hot springs. When we arrived after a two-hour bus ride, we headed straight to the mountains to hike. During the hike, we got to see amazing views of the mountain ranges and the Orosi Valley. Towards the end of the hike, we got to experience an amazing waterfall and take pictures with it. After the hike, we saw tons of exotic animals, such as chickens, donkeys, and other birds. Finally, to finish off our day at Hacienda Orosi, we relaxed in the hot spring for hours.

Tonight is our final night in San Jose, and tomorrow, we head off early in the morning for our school visit at Zeta Trece in La Fortuna. Then, we will head to Punta Leona for the final two days of our trip.

Greetings from Costa Rica! It has been quite a day for our 8th grade students - starting with early morning flights and ending with learning a traditional Costa Rican dance! The trip is off to a great start, and students are enjoying themselves as they settle into San Jose. 2024 Taiwan: Day 1

你好 (Hello)! Welcome to our Taiwan Global Studies Blog, where students on the trip will be writing exciting daily stories about this unforgettable cultural and language immersion trip. I’m Nathan C. '24, a senior, and I’ll be writing the first entry of the blog series. After 20+ hours of travel, we finally made it to Taipei, the capital of Taiwan. On our first full day in Taipei, we familiarized ourselves with our surroundings; we walked around the city and navigated our way through the intricate yet easy-to-understand metro system. Led by our fearless Bullis chaperones and local tour guide James Yen, our first destination was 象山 or Elephant Mountain. 2023 Costa Rica: Day 6 & 7

Greetings from our intrepid explorers! Today, Friday, March 24, is our last travel day in Costa Rica, and we’re packing our bags for home! We will make our way from the Pacific Coast, across the Continental Divide, and back to the Caribbean to our airport.  Our sixth day in Costa Rica was one of the most fun and bittersweet. We had another water-filled day, switching between an outrigger canoe trip with snorkeling and a visit to a beach, then some fun activities in the evening. I assigned a few student volunteers to recount their experiences today, to capture as many memories as we could before we say farewell.
